The last thing you want is for your child to panic on the day when they face questions that they’ve never seen before.
The scholarship test itself is written by Academic Assessment Services (AAS) as part of their scholarship exams.
Because of the huge financial incentives involved (usually in the 1,000s of dollars saved) and the number of test questions (students usually need to answer every questions in 60 seconds or less) - it is a seriously competitive test that makes children anxious and parents worried.
So when should you start test preparation?
It depends on your child’s current level. We have prepared students from 1 to 12+ months before the exam.
It is not uncommon for many students to prepare more than 12 months ahead of the exam. It is a test after all and one that is high stakes.
The scholarship exam is the hardest hurdle to pass and preparing will mean that your child will be less stressed on the day from seeing a whole bunch of questions they’ve never seen before.
So what should your child be studying to prepare for the test and what is the test format?
The test varies and some schools set their own test. The information below about test preparation is provided for general information at the Year 7 entry level and your test may differ. It’s important to confirm that actual components of the test with your school.
But as a guide, in general, scholarship tests by Academic Assessment Services (AAS) for Year 7 entry are in the following format:

WESLEY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS 2019
Wesley College is proud to offer the following range of endowed scholarships for academic accomplishment, music, rural and general excellence for entry in Year 7 and Year 10 in 2019.Boarding studentspreferring entry in Year 8 2020 should also submit an application at this stage, with the option of deferring.
Distance Applicants(Rural or Interstate)
Applicants intending to sit the examinations at Wesley College should use theAcademic and General Excellence Scholarship link.
Applicants unable to attend the College testing morning may sit the examinations in distant country areas or interstate, in certain circumstances. In this instance, please access the link forRural or Interstate Applicants.
Distance applicants need to register ONCE only.
Please note, late applications will not be accepted from Distance Applicants.

Applicants will be required to sit the music audition, but there is no requirement to sit the academic examinations.

YEAR 10 ACADEMIC AND GENERAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS
Open to studentsnot currently attending Wesley. Whilst preference is given to rural applicants, applications for day admission are also welcome.
YEAR 7 AND 10 NEEDS-BASED BURSARIES
A Bursary is an offer of enrolment to support a well-rounded and committed student who, without financial assistance, would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend Wesley College.
Families wishing to be considered for a needs-based bursary for their son must complete a Financial Assistance Form (PDF below), along with completion of the scholarship application.
Applicants must also sit the academic examinations.

Application Fee $100.00 (late applications $150.00)
Application Fee (Rural or Overseas) $250.00 (no late applications will be accepted)
Music Application Fee $50.00 (late applications ($70.00)
Please note: Medical conditions and taking medications during the examination
Not all staff at the test venue/s are trained in first aid or the administration of life-saving medication such as Epipens, Anapens, asthma inhalers or diabetes devices, so parents must disclose information about medical conditions and medication to the School and Academic Assessment Services well before the examination. Parents may be required to wait near the test venue/s during the examination to administer medication if necessary.
Please detail any food allergies in the dietary and medical issues question in the online application.
Apple or smart watches/phones are not permitted in the examination room.
UNPAIDapplicants will not be allowed to sit the examination.
HEADMASTER INTERVIEWS
Following the submission of applications and the examination process, a shortlist of candidates will be selected for a personal interview with the Headmaster. Thereafter, the scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and endeavour (as evidenced by the examination and current school reports), the student’s personal application and the interview process.
All candidates will be contacted and advised of the outcome of their application. Scholarships results will be published on the College website from June 2018.
