The scholarship test itself is written by Academic Assessment Services (AAS) as part of their scholarship exams.
Because of the huge financial incentives involved (usually in the 1,000s of dollars saved) and the number of test questions (students usually need to answer every questions in 60 seconds or less) - it is a seriously competitive test that makes children anxious and parents worried.
So when should you start test preparation?
It depends on your child’s current level. We have prepared students from 1 to 12+ months before the exam.
It is not uncommon for many students to prepare more than 12 months ahead of the exam. It is a test after all and one that is high stakes.
The scholarship exam is the hardest hurdle to pass and preparing will mean that your child will be less stressed on the day from seeing a whole bunch of questions they’ve never seen before.
So what should your child be studying to prepare for the test and what is the test format?
The test varies and some schools set their own test. The information below about test preparation is provided for general information at the Year 7 entry level and your test may differ. It’s important to confirm that actual components of the test with your school.

Central Coast Grammar School is delighted to offer a number of scholarships available to both new students entering the School and continuing students in 2020.

Central Coast Grammar School is pleased to also offer means-tested scholarships for external students only. If you think you might qualify for a means-tested scholarship, please tick the means-tested box during the registration process.
Academic Scholarship examination date is Thursday 14th February, 2019, arriving at the School no later than 8:20am.
As the examination will relate to Scholarships at Central Coast Grammar School only, applicants are notable to sit the examination at an alternative school campus. Unfortunately, there can be no amendments to examination times due to the number of applicants and a tight schedule on the day, so please ensure that you have no conflicting work, sporting or social commitments.
Central Coast Grammar School's Examination is conducted by Academic Assessment Services and more information about the Examination is available at www.academicassessment.com.au.Different tests are targeted at different year levels and are designed to differentiate ability levels of higher performing students.
Please note: Current Central Coast Grammar students must complete the School day as usual.
Visiting students applying for a scholarship (with the exception of music applicants) may be collected at 12:30pm or if you wish to take a tour of the campus with your child please meet them at 1pm. (lunch will be provided to children staying for a tour).
All students applying for a music scholarship are required to complete a music aptitude test after the examination and will be provided with lunch. Visiting students are to be collected at 2:15pm and CCGS students are to return to class at this time.
Note: Closing date for Applications is Monday 4th February, 2019.
NO applications will be accepted after Thursday 7th February, 2019.
Awarding of Scholarships
A letter indicating whether your son/daughter has been successful or otherwise will be sent to you by the end of Term 2.
The School does not provide feedback to parents on any aspect of the scholarship process. This includes the applicant’s performance in the scholarship examination, music aptitude test, music audition or any interview. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the School and the School’s decision is final.
A $1,500 Scholarship Entrance Deposit will become payable by new families to the School on acceptance of an offer of a scholarship (waived for means tested scholarship recipients). This deposit is fully refundable without interest when your last child leaves the School. This is subject to parents having paid all monies due to the School and otherwise having complied with the Conditions of Enrolment.
Please note:
Medical conditions and taking medications during the examination
Not all staff at the test venue/s are trained in first aid or the administration of life-saving medication such as Epipens, Anapens, asthma inhalers or diabetes devices, so parents must disclose information about medical conditions and medication to the School and Academic Assessment Services well before the examination. Parents may be required to wait near the test venue/s during the examination to administer medication if necessary.
Please detail any food allergies in the dietary and medical issues question in the online application.
Apple or smart watches/phones are not permitted in the examination room.
UNPAID applicants will not be allowed to sit the examination and will therefore not be eligible for a scholarship.
