18. Revision & Final Exam

You’ve finished the course now. But before you go let’s do revision and a final exam!

Revision Points

To do well in your numerical reasoning exam, remember: identify type, if can complete quickly, then solve, if not, move on and return with the last resort being, guess.

This will help you move through quickly but also help with getting a higher quantity of questions correct.

Overarching points to remember for each of the checkpoints are:

  • Numerical Reasoning Pattern Detection – Up: look at addition/multiplication/combinations where addition or multiplication provides the larger movement.
  • Numerical Reasoning Pattern Detection – Down: look at subtraction/division/combinations where subtraction or division provides the larger movement.
  • Numerical Reasoning Pattern Detection – Combinations: group like movements and look at multiple patterns.
  • Harder Numerical Reasoning Patterns 1 – Gaps: consider exponentials/surds/combinations.
  • Harder Numerical Reasoning Patterns 2 – Stand-in: identify repeating numbers that are dummy numbers and exclude them.
  • Harder Numerical Reasoning Patterns 3 – Jumps: look for irregular or inconsistent patterns and then consider whether there’s a jump.
  • Number Patterns – Grouped in Images: look at how the images are set up.
  • Number Patterns – Matrices: the rows and column provide guidance and consider visual patterns.
  • Pattern Detection within Groups: use other groups to validate the pattern.
  • Coding and Solving Worded Problems – Working with Information: convert to like units to make comparison easier.
  • Coding and Solving Worded Problems – Finding the Unknown with 1 Variable: illustrate concept and notate to focus your calculations.
  • Coding and Solving Worded Problems – Finding the Unknown with Multiple Variables: use constraints to eliminate incorrect options.
  • Twice as Much, “n” Times as Much and Similar Questions: use visual analysis and rearrange.
  • Missing Numbers using Algebra: figure out the unknown and set up your equation.
